Some people prefer to use judges instead of ministers as officiants for their wedding ceremonies. Justices frequently handle those who have broken minor rules, regulations, and laws such as those that regulate traffic speed. Using a justice of the peace often allows people to avoid court proceedings so that they can accept whatever fines they need to pay and move on.
